October 12 More crafty goodnessRight, now that I know the person I made it for got it, I can finally post a picture of the bag I made. I really like the way the thread-painted tui came out. Unfortunately the material was a little light for the density of stitching though, so it's a little wrinkled. I did do another attempt at it with stabiliser rather than interfacing backing it, but that did the same thing. And I sewed it on the wrong part of the bag, so that piece of fabric will become the lining for the next one I make...
Anyway, the pics are below.
And my next project is a pair of jeans for Ryan. Once I'm finished putting together a training module for work and studying for my exam (13 days away).
October 01 Microsoft misses daylight savings...Hey, for all the furore about having to update this and that to compensate for the early start to Daylight savings this year, it looks like microsoft forgot to apply it to some of their own sites (the date stamp on this entry is an hour out)
Not that I'm always totally up to date.
Just thought I'd post a pic from our anniversary (2 weeks ago). We've decided to take a picture every year as a momento.
I finished the doll I mentioned last time (well, she still needs shoes and stockings, but I'm sure I'll get around to those before Christmas).
I've also made a messenger bag, but I won't post pics of that until the person I've made it for has got it. Just in case...
September 08 Been a long time...So I haven't posted for a while. I guess I never feel like I have anything that exciting happening in my life... Sometimes I wonder if I should blog on current affairs, some things I do feel pretty strongly about, but so many other people seem to say things so eloquently, I'd just be noise
So anyway, what have I been up to recently? Lots of crafty sewing. At the moment I'm surfing while my brain works on the problem of a doll's dress I'm making. I thought I left enough seam allowance, but it frayed while I was adding some decorative pintucks, so now I'm trying to work out whether I should redo the bodice or just go with it. (See, I told you my live was really exciting...). I've got a flickr if you want to see what I've been up to, but I'm a nincompoop, and I can't work out how to post to my flickr profile. Ask me if you're keen, and I'll work it out.
I've also been spending quite a lot of time on a crafty forum. I'm not going to tell you which one though. Not that I post anything to worry about, but a girl's gotta keep some secrets.
Maybe I'll post again soon.
Maybe not.
We'll see. October 26 Getting used to itSo, as you can see from the photos, it really is all official. I'm slowly getting used to using my new name, Mrs N, and I've switched across everything bar my driver's licence and passport. It's still confusing though when it comes to signing things - I have to look at the card I'm using as ID to remind me who I "am" before I sign.
Also, adding to all the changes, I'm finishing up at my current job this Friday, and starting a new one in a week. So if you feel like emailing me, you'll have to use my home address (which you'll know if I want you to
Right, better get back to the grindstone!
September 18 Suprise!First of all, an apology to anyone who has asked "have you set a date yet?" in the last 10 weeks. You will have got the same answer you've been getting for the last 18 months... "We'll get round to it one of these days". Um, we got around to it on Sunday :-)
We are just about to jet off on that holiday we've been planning for months. In case you are wondering, the holiday plans came first, but it seemed like a good idea to turn it into a honeymoon instead, so our elopement grew from that. We told only our families, so please don't feel offended that you were left out: none of our friend's knew.
We don't have many pictures yet - I'm sure the family will send them through soon, so we'll add more when we get back. |
